05/05/2020 Autore: Ferma
19/05/2020 - h16.00 Risk Managers can be key actors in highlighting to the organisation leadership the opportunities and challenges of AI technologies.
This webinar is part of our series of webinars : Special COVID-19 – ”A European risk manager perspective on the coronavirus crisis.”
Organised by: FERMA
Context: As the new President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen promised legislation that would focus on Artificial Intelligence within the first 100 days of her taking office. The outcome was the release on 19 February 2020 of a White Paper on Artificial Intelligence, “A European approach to excellence and trust”. FERMA welcomes the European Commission’s approach which is in line with its vision on managing AI-related risks as presented in its own White Paper “Artificial Intelligence applied to Risk Management”.
The objective of our webinar is to discuss how AI applications can contribute to the fight against COVID19 and how it can be implemented into the risk management practices in order to ensure the continuity of businesses and prevent a second wave of COVID-19.
Philippe Cotelle, Head of Insurance Risk Management at Airbus Defence and Space and FERMA Board member, will highlight the key findings from FERMA’s report on “AI applied to Risk Management” and will set them in the context of the COVID19 crisis. He will especially focus on exit strategies such as the use of tracing apps which collect mobility data from infected persons.
To this regard, we will welcome Brendan Van Alsenoy (to be confirmed), Legal Officer at the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), who will underline the risks linked to data tracing and how the current EU legal framework address those issues.
Finally, Irina Orssich (European Commission) will present the Commission’s White Paper on AI and the other EU initiatives which aim at strengthening the EU legal framework regarding AI applications, especially in the field of privacy.
